Jalapeno poppers are one of our favourite snacks here in the babe street kitchen!
We love spicy food!
Our jalapeno tree has been popping out some super spicy jalapenos lately and, the framer markets are filled with them.
What do you do with lots of jalapenos? Make jalapeno poppers, of course. With using the air fryer, these poppers take 10 minutes to cook and about 15 minutes to prepare. With less than 10 ingredients, they make the perfect party dish, beer snack or appetizer.
Why you should make jalapeno poppers in the air fryer.
Since my partner got an air fryer for his birthday, we have been air frying everything!
It’s so, dam good everything cooks evenly and so much quicker than our oven. Our oven is a nightmare can’t make up its mind either to hot or too cold no matter the temperature gage.
Jalapeno poppers are usually deep-fried and coated in a crumb if you get them in a restaurant. These ones use a small amount of oil and no crumb in sight.
Not only better for your health but better for your taste buds. These Jalapeno poppers are GF and Low carb for any of you keto or GF hunni’s out there.
How to make Jalapeno Poppers.
These jalapeno poppers are slightly different from the usual ones you see on the net. Instead of halving the jalapenos, we hollow them out.
You might ask why? Is that more effort? Well, it might take you a couple minutes longer but, it tastes amazing and, you get more of that jalapeno flavour coming through. Plus you can stuff them with more cheese!
Trust me hunni it’s easy, and you’ll love them.
Ingredients.
- 12 Jalapenos
- ¼ cup cream cheese
- ¼ cup grated cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup mozzarella
- 1 tbsp parsley
- 1 tbsp basil
- Salt & Pepper
Steps on how to make.
- Make your cheese mixture – depending on how cold your cream cheese is, you might need to heat in the microwave for 10 seconds to soften.
2. Hollow out your jalapenos by slicing the top off and hollowing out the middle.
Slice and hallow. end result
3. Stuff each jalapeno with about 2 teaspoons of cheese mixture.
scoop cheese into the jalapeno use the bottom of a teaspoon to stuff. place the lids back on ready for air frying
4. Place your jalapeno poppers in the air fryer tray. Depending on how big your air fryer is, you may need to do a couple of batches.
How to cook your jalapeno poppers in the air fryer.
– Preheat your air fryer by turning it on about 10 minutes before you need to use it.
– Set your air fryer to 180 C and the timer for 10 minutes.
– Place your jalapeno poppers in the air fryer and press start.
If you prefer your poppers to be more on the crunchy side, cook them for 5-7 minutes. Open the air fryer at 5 minutes and test to see if they are the right amount of crisp for you.
We prefer a softer, melty jalapeno.
How to store your jalapeno poppers.
I highly doubt you will have any left because they taste so good.
If you have any leftover cheese mix, you can wrap and place in the fridge for up to 3 days and use it in a toasty, stir it through pasta or make more jalapeno poppers.
If you are pre-making these for a party, prepare the jalapenos, stuff them and place them into the fridge for up two days. Then cook them in the air fryer just before serving.
You can also freeze pre-cooked jalapeno poppers for up to one month. If cooking frozen jalapeno poppers, cook from frozen for 20 minutes in the air fryer at 180 C.
If you don’t think you’ll eat all the poppers at the time of, making them then, I wouldn’t recommend cooking them. You can store cooked jalapeno poppers in the fridge overnight however, they may get a bit soggy.
Freshly air-fried is always best.
Serving and Pairing suggestions.
These cheesy pockets of joy go so well with beer.
I would recommend a pilsner or golden ale.
If you’re a wine drinker, pair these with a dry sauvignon blanc.
These poppers are perfect for dinner parties, potlucks or if you’re looking to serve something to your mates while you’re having beers.
They make a great appetizer or entrée too.
Honestly, I just make them for myself when I’ve got heaps of jalapenos, and I’m feeling spicy.
I hope you enjoy these. Get your mates together, have some beers and knock out their taste buds with these air fried jalapeno poppers.
Hey, you can even say you came up with them yourself.
